What is the cleaning routine?

I completely understand every parent’s need to know how we’re protecting our little ones. Before I dive into the details, I want to acknowledge that, no matter the process, I can’t guarantee that germs will never be shared. After all, I can’t trail behind each child and clean between every handprint!

That said, I make every effort to clean thoroughly each day, and I’m always open to suggestions if anyone has new ideas.

Here’s our cleaning process:

Floors are swept/vaccummed/mopped daily.

Large plastic toys are sanitized daily with Clorox wipes, then sprayed with a bleach-and-water solution and left to air dry.

Smaller plastic toys are cleaned the same way: wiped, sprayed, and air-dried each day.

To ensure an extra level of cleanliness, all of those toys also go through a full cycle of soapy wash, rinse, sanitizing solution, and air drying at least twice a week, and more often during heavy use.

Cloth costumes and stuffed animals are spot cleaned and sprayed with Lysol at least twice a week and machine-washed as needed.

We also have a “Yuck Bucket” - a designated spot for any toy that’s been slobbered on, to minimize germ sharing throughout the day.

Finally, the bathroom is stocked with soap, water, and paper towels for proper handwashing, and there are two hand sanitizer stations available for convenience.
